“He was a wise man who invented beer.”

Greene King have been brewing quality cask ales at the Westgate Brewery in Bury St Edmunds since 1799.

They use locally sourced barley malted just two miles from the brewery; water from the chalk wells sunk deep beneath Bury St Edmunds; hops from Kent and Worcestershire; and yeast strains descended from those used by their founder in 1799.

Their wide range of much-loved brands includes Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen, Morlands Original and Abbot Ale.
Cask ale is a living product and will only keep in an unopened cask for 35 days. Once opened, the beer must be consumed within 3 days - no problem for the old boys at the Fox!

At the Fox we serve three Greene King cask bitters.

Cask beer requires critical storage conditions and skilled handling to ensure customers can enjoy the perfect pint every time.

Here at the Fox we have received the Cask Marque for the all round quality of our cask beer and always have one of he following ales available:

Greene King IPA -  A  perfectly balance ale, characterised by its fresh, hoppy taste and clean, bitter finish. An excellent choice for those who want to linger and still touch their nose at the end of the evening...
